Overview

Internet Topology Mapper (iToM) is a system to build sample Internet maps using collected topology data. Given raw traceroute data, iToM applies several filters and derives the underlying router level topology. Various filters applied to the raw data include:

  • Filtering incorrect path traces,

  • Resolving anonymous routers,

  • Finding IP aliases,

  • Infering genuine subnets.

Currently we use the raw traceroute data from iPlane. The measured topologies from this data is updated on a daily basis and it can be found here.
